- Sourced numbers: figures come from government data (U.S. Census Bureau, USDA), the National Association of Home Builders and established cost guides, and every page lists its sources and dates.
- Clear estimates: where a figure is our own model rather than a published number, we say so.
- Open method: the methodology shows every assumption in the calculator.
- Corrections: if you spot an error, tell us and we will review it.
What we are not
We are not a builder, lender or financial adviser. Our estimates are a starting point for planning; always get written bids from licensed builders and quotes from lenders before you commit.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use. If we add advertising or partner links in future, they will be clearly labeled and will not change our numbers.
